Communities Proclaim National Hospice Month

Each November, people and organizations involved in end-of-life care recognize National Hospice Month.

Throughout Catawba Regional Hospice's 10-county service area, local communities often issue proclamations to acknowledge the good work being done in service to folks challenged by advanced illness.

This year, among the towns and counties giving voice to hospice care were the following:

At the Catawba County Board of Commissioners meeting on November 7, Vice-Chair Barbara Beatty proclaimed November as National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. Julie Packer, Catawba Regional Hospice’s Director of Professional Relations and a Hickory resident, accepted the proclamation.

At the Mooresville town board meeting on November 7, Mayor Miles Atkins proclaimed November as National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. Stuart Madow, Catawba Regional Hospice’s Director of Professional Relations and a Mooresville resident, accepted the proclamation.

At the Burke County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, November 15, Chairman Wayne F. Abele, Sr., proclaimed November as National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. Conlee Fisher Clark, Catawba Regional Hospice’s Director of Professional Relations and a Morganton resident, accepted the proclamation.

Clark is also slated to accept a similar proclamation from the Town of Hildebran on November 28.

These communities' acknowledgement of the benefits of hospice care tie into a nationwide observance. Catawba Regional Hospice’s theme for 2016 is “Your Journey. Your Care. Your Hospice.”
