Cardinal Kids

Cardinal Kids is a community-based health care program dedicated to helping children and their families face the challenges of serious illness. Our top priority is to ensure an appropriate level of comfort based on a plan of expert, individualized health care.

Cardinal Kids began seeing patients in 2019 in Burke, Alexander, Catawba and Lincoln counties but, as demand for care increased, the program was expanded into our 12-county service area: Alexander, Burke, Cabarrus, Caldwell, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, McDowell, Mecklenburg and Rowan counties.

We provide palliative and hospice care, patient and family support, and spiritual comfort throughout a multi-county region – with the utmost compassion and commitment. While most of our care takes place directly in childrens’ homes, we can also serve the patient and family in the hospital setting as well.

Our clinicians work closely with the child, his/her physicians and the child’s family to manage and treat some of the physical symptoms caused by his/her illness. Our team can also help identify any social, emotional, or spiritual needs that the child and family may have.
